Mommy Fitness Blog: it’s a new beginning.

June 1, 2009

My son is going to be five months this week and summer is arriving soon. It’s a new month, a new week and a new morning…time for great reflections as I prepare for the fitness journey ahead. Well – my weight hit a plateau this past month. While my weight didn’t move, my body still felt different. My waist is smaller, some areas are tighter and clothes (especially jeans) feel a lot better. Even though I still worked out and…

Learning from winning.

May 21, 2009

May 20, 2009 I subscribe to a few magazines including Psychology Today, Oxygen, Entrepreneur and Time. This past weekend I read a great magazine article on the topic of Failure.  This article detailed how experiencing failure is necessary in order to build the resilience, vigilance and wisdom required in any person’s complex life journey. Setbacks exist to teach us, not prevent us from reaching our goal. The sooner and faster we begin failing, the more precocious we become and therefore…

Mommy Fitness Blog: Get up! Get going! It’s Monday!

May 18, 2009

I layed in bed for an hour before I actually got out the door this morning… WHY? Because I was soooo unmotivated.  Not only did I have a ‘kinda  bad’ weekend eating, but it has been really HOT lately and the baby kept me up for a while around 3am. SOOOO…after I weighed myself (because I was convinced I gained two pounds) I was happy to find I had not gained anything. So, I put on my clothes, my shoes…

Mommy Fitness Blog: a story about motivation

May 15, 2009

So I’ve been training EVERY day this week including Sunday. Have a lost 2 pounds? NO. What are my thoughts? – I think I could’ve eaten a better last meal of the day – I am at a ‘set-point’ weight right now and it’s really hard to get away from it – I’m plateauing with my cardio workouts – My body is adjusting to my increased intake from 1400 to 1800 calories a day (for my breast feeding) —- So…

May 14, 2009 This past weekend I celebrated my First Mother’s Day. David planned to leave for a few days on a surprise trip requiring hiking gear, swimsuits and extra diapers. While heading down south on Saturday morning, I realized that we wouldn’t be back the following day to celebrate with my mother. Initially we planned on leaving on Friday, but due to work obligations it was switched to Saturday. After some contemplation, I decided that while I wanted to…

Mommy Fitness Blog: I’ve got super sneakers~!!!!

May 11, 2009

Well – not exactly.! BUT! I’ve got two new Nike sneakers that I purchased at the outlets this weekend and I LOVE THEM. One is pink, black and white…they are the Nike Shox. The other is a bright orange. YES, I like colorful shoes. I told David that I like dressing up like a clown at the gym so I don’t get bored! LOL. Actually, it’s sorta true. Most of my girlfriends know me as someone who show sup with…

Love without Justification

May 6, 2009

May 5, 2009 One of my readers, Tiffani, referred me to a wonderful blog about a woman, Stephanie Nielson, who has been blogging about family, life and spirituality for many years.  Recently, she and her husband almost died in a fatal plane crash that left her with burns throughout much of her face and most of her body. She exists today in Utah with her four children and her husband, who she lovingly refers to as Mr. Nielson. It was…

Mommy Fitness Blog: I’m not eating enough.

May 5, 2009

I’ve got a ton of things to do today: – go to the grocery store – write an article – begin writing a grant – exercise (chest/abs) – attend C.O.R.E. club – meeting with teacher advisor – update sites – make a bunch of phonecalls. etc.etc.etc. I already completed a few of my goals today. I worked out with my Mom-Me fitness club this morning and it was brutal! We did a running HITT workout and I was sweating! We…

April 19, 2009

April 19, 2009 When I was in sixth grade, our class participated in an aerobics routine to the music, Can’t Touch This by MC Hammer.  Our classmate, Jason, had a mother who volunteered as our aerobics instructor for a period of 4 months. From that moment, I relished every opportunity our class had to workout’. I fondly remember exercising in the front row with a one-piece body suit, spandex and a head band. At only 11 years old, I thoroughly…

April 1, 2009

April 1, 2009 I didn’t want to work out this morning. As I layed in bed in the dark staring at Christian’s peaceful face, the idea of putting on clothes and getting into a cold car was not appealing at all. Besides the physical task of moving, I was also unmotivated to exercise due to a melancholy energy that has surrounded me these past couple days. After the gym I was eager to pick up our local paper to see…
