Learning to pray

July 23, 2009

July 22, 2009 As I type, I’m in L.A., fatigued from five days of sightseeing, swimming and being sick. On Sunday I began experiencing symptoms of a head cold or flu. By Tuesday I could hardly breathe. While I feel better today, I still haven’t worked out in over a week and am still not fully recovered from the busy-ness’ I have experienced these last couple weeks. Since I’ve been gone, I feel a little displaced in my personal, professional…

Mommy Fitness Blog: SICK and NOT working out.

July 21, 2009

I haven’t worked out in about a week. This was the first time in a little over a month I COULDN’T run my weekly ten miles. Last week I was sooo busy. I was so busy I had the worst writer’s block and couldn’t complete a paid article for a magazine I write for. I was so busy I couldn’t even workout! In fact, I was sooo busy I ended up getting really sick this entire weekend and am STILL…

Mommy Fitness Blog: ugh. I have my period.

July 8, 2009

I was NOT in the mood to workout this morning. I’ve been busy these past few days and have been dealing with a painful period! Ever since I gave birth, my periods have been heavier. I also feel extremely bloated and nauseous the week prior.  When I got to the gym, I began chatting with a trainer…then I talked with a fellow fitness friend…then I bought something to drink…it took me 20 minutes to get in the mood to workout!…

So much has happened in this past week. – My mother was diagnosed with Coronary Heart Disease and experienced two small heart attacks. (Today is Wednesday and he is feeling MUCH better) – An elderly woman at a care home I manage was brought to Emergency and is now on Hospice. – I had three articles due (Imagine trying to keep your mind…

Our greatest gifts are free.

June 30, 2009

June 29, 2009 My mother had a small heart attack on her birthday last week. During dialysis she experienced high blood pressure and a tightening in her chest area. She was sent to the hospital where they discovered she had a heart attack and diagnosed her with coronary heart disease. We can either risk surgery or manage her health through medication. Either way, her desire for a kidney transplant has been compromised and her quality of life has definitely decreased.…

Mommy Fitness Blog: 2 shakes a day!

June 24, 2009

So here’s the deal: I’ve been SUCCESSFULLY been runnin 10 miles per week for the last two weeks. I JUST finished running 3 miles today! I DEFINITELY think that running has leaned me up a bit, BUT.. and this is a BIG  but… I don’t think I’m eating well. I eat pretty much what I want from Fri-Sun. Granted I don’t eat fries and cheeseburgers, but I definitely don’t eat as much protein as I should. I need to start…

Mommy Fitness Blog: work, working out and workin’ IT!

June 19, 2009

This entire week I’ve been working….waking at 6am and working until 7pm. In addition to my work, I still have meetings, appointments, my mom(me!) club, working out and the baby to tend to every single day. Today was actually the first day I actually woke up early and trained at 5am. I’ve been desiring to train in the morning all week but failed to complete that goal NOT because my  body wasn’t used to waking up that early …but moreover…

Living Presence

June 16, 2009

June 15, 2009 Last week I made a goal to start running more. I knew that in order to see significant physical changes, I needed to place my body under uncomfortable conditions. For me, running has always been a love-hate’ relationship. Not only do I find it monotonous and boring, but most of all, it unpleasantly accelerates my heart rate like no other cardio. My overall goal was to run 10 miles total.  While this did not include the 3…

Mommy Fitness Blog: My new goals.

June 8, 2009

SO! I decided that I want to start running. I always tell everyone that Running is the BEST type of cardio and yet I hardly do it! WHY? Because it brings me back to junior high school  years when I was forced to run ‘the mile’. Of course, I wasn’t the slowest girl in the class (I was 3rd fastest to be exact) but it was still hard. Even though I can run forever, (as I do when I run…
