My rock

September 2, 2010

September 1, 2010 I don’t usually update this site during daylight hours as it is 3:40pm as I type. However, it seems that whenever I can put in hours anywhere I do. If I have 30 minutes to train, I get on my treadmill in the garage. If I need to eat, I consume one of my pre-made tuna sandwiches in the fridge. If I need to clean, make phone calls or run errands, I test myself to see how…

Mommy Fitness Blog: “made to have babies!”

August 25, 2010

Last week I ran A LOT. I ran for my warm up – I ran at the park..I even ran up crazy bleachers at a local community college. I felt great. Right now, it’s incredibly  HOT in Sacramento so I’m not running so much this week. This morning, I had an incredibly long workout that included stairclimbing, an intense chest workout followed by a bootcamp class. I usually don’t take bootcamp classes,  but I had a meeting afterwards with the…

Bad dreams.

August 18, 2010

August 17, 2010 I had a bad dream last night. My teeth were becoming loose and began falling out one by one. It was a gross reminder of the feelings I had when I was losing my baby teeth as a child. I felt deep emotions of pain, sadness, but most of all loss. As much as I clenched my teeth, there was no escaping the inevitable ending to my dream a dream that has reoccurred every 2-3 months of…

Mommy Fitness Blog: I am crazy sore.

August 12, 2010

Yesterday I worked out with my buddy Adrian and we did a few things I haven’t done in a while…or ever! I deadlifted 140 pounds and even did dips. (No, I’m not talking about tricep dips.) Besides working out with him, I also peformed some crazy lunges with my mommy fitness group the day before, making me sore, sore, SORE today! I do plan on working out tonight though – Dance Class! I love dance class because it’s fun, I…

my SUPER team

August 10, 2010

August 9, 2010 Last week I hosted my nonprofit’s fitness summer camp for three days. The kids choreographed and filmed a workout DVD, created fitness calendars and enjoyed special guests who spoke about fitness and nutrition. While I was nervous about executing my first camp, I knew that this experience would be a memorable moment for all the kids involved. It has been an incredibly rewarding year working with students who have built friendships, transformed their bodies and redefined what…

Mommy Fitness Blog: Fitness Summer Camp!

August 3, 2010

Yes! Most of this week I will be instructing at my nonprofit’s summer camp so my posting will be here and there and everywhere! I really enjoy working with my students and am getting so many great ideas on how to make the program better! Tomorrow we will be filming a workout DVD, which will be so much fun!!! Today we had a great jump rope workout and discussed the basics of nutrition and fitness. Some of the things we…

Pushing forward

July 30, 2010

July 29, 2010 I saw my childhood best friend this past weekend. In Elementary school, Claire and I slept at each other’s houses, exchanged best friend necklaces and shared life milestones together.  When Junior High arrived we went to a year-around’ school that had four different tracks. Since I was on A track and she was on C track, we hardly saw each other. When high school turned the corner, we had become nearly strangers to each other. So when…

Mommy Fitness Blog: My world is crazy

July 28, 2010

If anyone had the opportunity to be a fly on my wall throughout a day in the life of ME then they would certainly be exhausted. Every day is going…going…going. Even when sick. (which I have been this past week) It is 5pm and I FINALLY got the opportunity to sit down and devote ten minutes to this website. I had 4 meetings, went to two care homes, shopping, etc. My day is still not over. Yesterday I had my…

Routines.

July 21, 2010

July 20, 2010 I feel terrible for not updating this site on a regular basis. After all, I’m a very routine-type-of person and I hate it when I miss a church mass, a workout, a deadline or a meal.  When things start to spiral out of control I start to notice all things imperfect When I drive I get irritated by water spots on my car, when my gas tank is close to empty or when there are crumbs in…

Dare to Dream

July 9, 2010

July 8, 2010 I know how it feels to want to cry from exhaustion now. There I was: lying in bed with one son on my right, the other squirming on my left and praying that neither would make any noise as to wake the other. After spending the last half hour holding back wearisome tears from a day of spending the entire day with the boys by myself, I can finally spend just a bit of time for me…
