Mommy Fitness Blog: post-vacation Weigh In!

March 3, 2011

04SO…

I said that I would wait a couple weeks before stepping on the scale.

I lied.

I decided that now is good as ever to track my progress for the next month. I did waitt a few days though since I’ve been sick with a head cold and laying around the house needing a nap ALL day long.

So – did I gain weight from my two week cruise????

Drum Rolls please….

I lost three pounds!

I usually lose weight on vacation. I don’t know why that is. I think it’s because I’m so active – and my body enjoys the break, etc. I also eat fairly well. On a scale from 1-10, I probably eat around a 7. The only thing I eat a little extra is bread, some candy and of course wine! However, all in all, I don’t eat tons of desserts or go binge drinking – and if you can only imagine, it was REALLY tough on a cruise ship NOT to do that. But I faired well – I was actually closing my eyes when I stepped on the scale because I was so scared to see the number.

This morning I saw a friend at the gym – and he is usually honest when he gives me feedback on my physique. He said, “I thought for sure you would blow up on a cruise vacation –  but you look like you never left!” (I was so happy to hear that) Another person, my aunt, said that my uncle and her were betting that I would gain 5lbs to 10lbs while gone. And after reviewing my pics on facebook they realized that they had both lost! LOL

So today feels like a good day. Naturally. It’s always a good day when you wake up early to train. I colored my hair, got my fingers and toe nails re-painted, legs shaved (I do this once a month since my hair is so sparce) – and so now I feel like a new woman! I’m still kind of sick. My nose is still runny. My eyes still feel tired. BUT I feel good.

I’ve been spending copious amounts of time with my kids since arriving home so they have kept me very active – and tired! There is a mountain of laundry (from 10 loads) sitting in my son’s bedroom waiting for me to fold and put away. I have a lot of paperwork to complete – so….with all this stuff I have to do, it feels good to know I already trained this morning.

So train in the morning people! Even if it has to be 4am! It is worth it when you are incredibly busy.

Here are some pics as promised from my trip!
