Mommy Fitness Blog: not happening…

August 3, 2011

Gosh.
I feel terrible.

I literally workout once a week. It’s terrible. It’s the worse I’ve been EVER. And NO, being pregnant is not an excuse…having two crazy toddlers is no excuse. Working and getting stressed is no excuse. Having a husband out of town is no excuse.

These are normal excuses for people but they aren’t normal excuses for me.

Because the fact is…is that I have over 20 workout DVD’s, I have a jumprope, a medicine ball, an exercise bike, a treadmill, a jogging stroller….

I have everything I need to make at least 30 minutes a day count towards a workout.

I have everything BUT the motivation.

While there are so many excuses I can make, the ultimate deep down reason why things aren’t getting accomplished is because I’m not WILLING it enough.

So why am I not motivated?

Well – being busy doesn’t help. Being tired doesn’t help either.

I’ve also not gained a lot of weight. Maybe thirteen pounds so far and I’m already half way there. I DO wake up sore. Sometimes it’s from cleaning a lot, walking a lot or dealing with the kids all day. When people used to say “running after my kids is a workout” – they are FOR REAL. I carry them all the time. I’m always on my feet doing SOMETHING. I’m definitely not the pregnant woman sitting on my butt eating bon bons and watching reality TV.

So the fact that I’m not gaining weight extensively is a BIG reason why I’m not working out as much. Also, knowing that I’m not training for a contest or to get incredibly toned doesn’t motivate me.

So what do you do if you DON’T WANT TO WORKOUT AS MUCH?????????????

You eat less.

Of course, you can’t eat less if you are pregnant. BUT, you can be careful of what you eat.

While I’m not having chicken breast and broccoli every meal time (in fact I have a lot of fruit, graham crackers, bread and candy) I’m also not gorging on cheeseburgers, fries, pizzas, ice cream and so on.

I’m also becoming more realistic with myself and my sad, blank fitness calendar. I’m not aiming for four times a week – or even three – right now I’m focusing on getting to the gym just two times a week. That’s an accomplishment! It’s all about the short term achievable goals!!!

Remember that people!!!

Have a wonderful week. I will try to post more..it’s just tough with the kids constantly needing my attention ALL THE TIME.
