Mommy Fitness Blog: New Year’s Fitness Resolution

January 4, 2010

Happy New Year! We spent New Year’s cleaning the house, then having some food at my parents, then a late dinner at a nice restaurant called “The Firehouse” in Old Sacramento downtown. It was wonderful. After consuming crab bisque and array of appetizers, we put our party hats on and watched the fireworks from their courtyard at the stroke of midnight. I couldn’t have planned a better way to start the New Year.

Now, I am actually trying to keep my eyes open from sleeping at 2:30am lastnight! I laid in bed at 11pm but couldn’t fall asleep so I started watching a movie with David while working on a birthday project for Christian. (He is turn ONE on Friday! WOW!!) I woke up at 6:30am this morning and have been working and running errands since! (it’s now 10:00am)

I have a VERY busy day and week planned. On Wednesday I have a parent meeting for my transformation program, on Thursday I have an Open House for my new business, on Friday I have my grandfather’s birthday party (which is also Christian’s actual birthday) and on Saturday we are hosting Christian’s party! Yesterday the car was STUFFED with supplies, foods and other stuff for the things going on this week. My mind keeps going – which is probably why I can’t sleep!

In regards to my pregnancy, I have definitely popped! My belly is  very evident. NOW people are saying, ‘are you pregnant?’ I am 26 weeks along now. This week is actually the end of my 2nd trimester, which means I will be getting a bit more tired in the next few months. The baby should also be gaining half a pound each week!

A girlfriend wanted to run a 5k on New Year’s day and I was VERY tempted to do it, but the weather was cold, baby was sick and the run was in Auburn, CA which is a higher elevation. I’ve been known to have ‘balls’ when it comes to doing things, especially when pregnant, but I need to be more careful as I don’t want to be on crutches with a big belly! I was educating her on the benefits and risks of exercising while pregnant. It’s important to stay active BUT you can’t have a extended high heart rate (140 bpm and above) and you don’t want to risk getting injured in situations like trail running (which she asked if I would do with her.)  I ended up taking a kickboxing class and performing exercises for my entire body that day. It was great! I still run even with my belly too. (I guess it’s more like a jog?) LOL

My goal this year is simple – and not so simple as I will be pregnant for half of 2010. Here are my New Year’s Fitness Resolutions:

During Pregnancy:

1. Exercise 3x per week

2. Try to be active each day

3. Drink lots of water

After Pregnancy:

1. Focus on eating enough for baby and me. (I try to breastfeed as long as I can. I breastfed Christian for six months, then stopped because it was hard while working…then I got pregnant again! LOL)

2. Lose all baby weight within 3 months. (I did this with Christian)

3. Be in the best shape of my life at 30 years old! (my birthday is Nov 26)

4. Run a half marathon (this would be my second time)

5. Lean 4 pack abs, toned arms and tight glutes and legs
