Mommy Fitness Blog: I’m BACK from my vacation!

September 30, 2009

It’s my first official day back as I was traveling ALL DAY yesterday. In fact, my plane ride home from New York to Sacramento was one of the worst flights I’ve had…mainly because I was getting sick. I was sneezing, my nose was running, and I could hardly move because I was holding the baby while he was sleeping. If I moved an inch…or even sneezed…he’d wake up! AND it was a bit frustrating because there was only one runway open and had to wait almost an hour to depart. That’s an extra hour out of the 5.5 hours I would have to be on a plane!

However – despite yesterday…I woke up today bright an early. (Even though I went to sleep at 2am) and started getting back to work. There are a TON of things I need to do this week…today! And I need to do all the things you  need to do when you come back from a vacation: unpack, laundry, grocery…etc!

The vacation was great. We went to the East Coast, visited my family and friends there. My uncle owns two dealerships in Virginia, so we were able to get a free car to use during our entire duration there. However, while I had the transportation, I didn’t drive to a gym once. In fact, I didn’t workout for the entire two weeks I’ve been gone.

(okay – I wrote that part on Monday, now it is Wednesday…>>> )

SO – now that I’ve been home two full days I have to say that BUSY in capital letters is not enough to fully describe the amount of work I’ve been doing since returning. I have a list of things I need to complete before 1pm today..and since I’m still a bit sick, all I really want to do is sleep.

Yesterday I attend my Mom-me fitness group, which was great because I got moving and performed leg exercises. It was a bit cold outside so I was a little nervous about getting more sick, but I’m glad I went because I’m easing myself back into exercise. I feel like I’m losing muscle weight and that is NOT GOOD. My goal is to make it to the gym today.

While I’ve been gone, I have to admit, I thought I gained at least 5 pounds. After all, all I did was sleep, eat, travel and eat…:) BUT I was astounded to find out I had actually lost weight. CRAZY! I even managed to eat candy every day and still lost weight. That was awesome news.

My second pregnancy is going well. I’m almost out of my first trimester and have found that this time around is a bit easier than last time…mainly because I haven’t gained any weight! I think during this stage last year I was at least 15 pounds heavier (I started heavier and I gained five pounds during my first trimester) so I guess I’m doing pretty darn good. Does this mean I’m having a girl??? 🙂 I HOPE SO!!!!

My goal this week is to:

1. Get active somehow every day

2. Drink more liquids

3. Eat small meals throughout the day

4. Manage my days by planning things out carefully

5. Perform weight training.
