How to create a Fitness Calendar: 15 rules.

October 1, 2012

I have used an Fitness Calendar for over ten years. There are poster boards rolled up in my closet dating back to my college years. Having a large wall calendar was very useful because it kept me accountable (since no one usually checked in on me) and made me re-focus on long term goals each day. Having an Fitness Calendar was particularly helpful during the winter months when life became incredibly busy with festivities and holidays. How to Make an…

A Tale of TWO pregnancies: How to be a fit mom

September 28, 2012

I always wanted to be a cute pregnant woman but my cuteness looked a little different in my first versus third pregnancy. Many things influenced the differences in my weight, but the biggest influencer was my starting weight. I was always active in all my pregnancies and ate an overall 8/10 on a clean eating scale. Here’s Maria Kang’s advice for a healthy and fit pregnancy! 1)      Start at an ideal weight. This is my BIGGEST advice. Be active and…

Living a focused life.

September 26, 2012

September 24, 2012 For the past couple weeks I’ve been working on my new product, attending meetings and embracing the overwhelming response to the picture of me and my boys. While I wanted to engage in the organic process as the photo made its way through various pages and blogs, I couldn’t fully because my life was already too occupied. I rarely get on the computer for long durations after the boys are awake and am busy until their bedtime…

Mommy Fitness: Maria Kang’s workout and diet routine

September 25, 2012

I get requests for workouts and diets all the time and here’s the deal: I’m not a big fan on giving generic workout advice and unpersonalized diet plans. For example, if you don’t/haven’t: –          Been strength training for over ten years –          Can run 3 miles without difficulty –          Have no postural issues –          Are slightly injured on your left shoulder blade –          Proportionate in body type –          Have strong, easy-to-build, legs –          Don’t eat red meat –          Is allergic…

Clean Eating: Turkey Meatballs

September 25, 2012

This recipe is delicious! It’s very easy to make. I actually make meatballs quite often so I’ve expanded on the basic recipe found below. I added actual wheat bread (2) cut into little squares so it stuck together better, I also added spinach and some parmesan for my boys. Half the batch I brown using olive oil on the stove, the other I place in little muffin tins and bake in the oven. (This is how you cook for both…

Clean Eating: Kale Fried Rice

September 21, 2012

Kale is so good for you. There are so many health benefits because it’s high in Vitamin K, fiber and iron. It is an anti-inflammatory food and high in antioxidants. So I was very excited to receive this healthy recipe from one of my favorite kickboxing instructors, Charil Lorenzo Daniels. It’s very easy to make and it tastes DELICIOUS. I added some egg with mine for some added protein. If you have children you  might want to omit the jalapeno.…

Judging a book by its cover.

September 18, 2012

September 17, 2012 A picture of me and my three boys has gone viral on Facebook. Innocently written on the top of the picture is “What’s your excuse?” Originally, I thought this would be a fun caption, as everyone has an excuse as to why they can’t workout and eat clean. It seemed illustrating a fit mother with three boys three years and under would inspire others to look at their personal excuses and train harder. Or so I thought.…

“I CAN!!!”

September 12, 2012

I have rules about my writing. I don’t write when I’m stressed or angry. I don’t write during the daytime or when the boys are awake. I don’t write about negative thoughts. Most of all, I don’t write just to write…if I miss a week or two, I will do exactly that because writing isn’t something forced. Writing is a creation of thought, a manifestation of your inner soul displaying itself for the world to read. So I haven’t been…

Clean Eating: Skinny Monkey Cookies

September 11, 2012

I loved this recipe because it was simple and had minimal ingredients. You can probably add some chocolate protein powder to make the overall nutritional content more balanced. I personally would prefer the texture to be a little more harder because it is more ‘mushy’ than like a traditional cookie. While it definitely doesn’t taste like a chocolate Crunch bar, it does the job when you are eating clean and need something sweet to suffice that tooth!~ It’s also SUPER…

Clean Eating: Triple Chocolate Chunk Muffin

September 10, 2012

I just made these Triple Chocolate Chunk Muffins today and they were SUPER easy to  make. Took me about ten minutes to mix everything and 30 minutes to bake all of them. I say to ‘bake all of them’ because I used miniature muffin trays, so it took longer to bake. What I love about my mini muffin trays is that each muffin is probably 50 calories because it’s bit size! So how did it taste? well – since I…
