The birth of our 3rd son.

December 27, 2011

December 27, 2011 As we were driving to my husband’s family gathering last Saturday evening I received a call from my doctor encouraging us to come in that evening or the following day for an induction. Since I have a history of high risk and fast labors, it was important that we create a controlled labor setting. As we laughed with family and celebrated the holiday season that evening, it was odd knowing that in less than 24 hours, if…

Mommy Fitness: Body 1 week after labor.

December 26, 2011

Our baby was born on December 18th, 2011 at 10:31pm and weighed 8lbs and 3oz. It was an incredible day. It was painful – it was fast and it was miraculous. I was induced at close to 40 weeks because of my history of high risk and fast labors. Luckily I was because it took a long time to get my blood clotting medications in me. Of course, it was very painful because inductions typically are. I was in active…

God Always Provides

December 16, 2011

December 15, 2011 I slept in until 10:30am today. In fact, this entire day I didn’t go out, remove my pajamas or check my emails or voicemails. It was a day lazily filled with reading Brenda Warner’s “One Call Away”, playing with the boys and lounging around my bedroom. Today was a far cry from the busy life I had assumed for the past few months. Last night was my breaking point: there I was, having painful but irregular contractions,…

Mommy Fitness: Exercising until I pop.

December 14, 2011

Tonight I attended a kickboxing class. Tomorrow I’m scheduled for a dance class. It’s hilarious to watch me and my pregnant belly kicking, punching and working out to loud music! I’m going to miss my cute belly though –  because in about a week, this baby will be out of my tummy and into this world.  I will also miss exercise because I literally don’t work out for six weeks after giving birth. Funny how active I am considering I…

Yummy Recipes: Christmas Cookies!!!

December 9, 2011

I am a cookie fanatic. I make tons of cookies every year, for every occasion and for every season! Most recently, a girlfriend posted a link to a cookie recipe on facebook, and wrote, “Can someone make this for me please?” Of course, she didn’t think I would actually go do it! I found the recipe to be pretty simple. There is some extra components like rolling the peanut butter in and adding the cinnamon sugar on the outside. Besides…

Memories of my 3rd Pregnancy

December 7, 2011

December 6, 2011 I’ve packed my hospital bag, the boy’s bag, completed my birth plan, wrapped 90% of my Christmas gifts, decorated the majority of the house, cleaned all my newborn clothes and am planning on sending the last of my Christmas cards tomorrow. I’ve never felt really uncomfortable during any of my pregnancies, but I do admit that this time around I feel like my tummy is heavier and rounder than usual. As a tradition, and to be fair,…

Mommy Fitness Blog: Home Stretch!

December 1, 2011

Last week I didn’t step into the gym once. I was so busy. I don’t even know what I was doing. I just know that there were a couple times when my youngest son didn’t want to stay in the Kids Club, which made it difficult to work out. Instead, I had to leave early and go play with them in the park somewhere. This week doesn’t look any better. I am slated to go to San Francisco tomorrow night…

Pregnancy Fit Tips.

December 1, 2011

I get a lot of positive comments when I’m pregnant. I think it’s funny when people say, “Pregnancy suits you.” I admit that I don’t have the regular issues that most pregnant women seem to have. Most recently when I went to get a facial and massage, both the esthetician and therapist commented on how good my skin was and how little swelling I seemed to have. My husband  always compliments me on my minimal weight gain, level of activity…

The Languages of Love

November 30, 2011

November 29, 2011 Several years ago, I read the book “The Five Love Languages” by Dr. Gary Chapman. It described how people give and receive love based upon their idea of what love is. For some it’s words of affirmation, for others, it can be receiving gifts or physical touch.  For me, it’s acts of service and quality time. I love it when my husband and I take long, lone trips together and talk in the car. When we went…
